Dr. Lane Hsien-Yuan specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and dementia. Schizophrenia may arise from genetic factors, life stress, or structural changes in the brain. In Taiwan, psychiatric disorders are often overlooked, leading to delayed treatment. Dr. Lane highlights that while psychiatric treatments have advanced significantly, they remain limited by specific pharmacological mechanisms or suboptimal efficacy. Furthermore, existing medications may cause side effects such as drowsiness, motor retardation, tremors, rigidity, or metabolic disturbances. His research team is dedicated to identifying safer natural compounds for the treatment of psychiatric disorders.
