With the successful development of medical technologies for organ transplantation, the current major problem is people in Taiwan have the concept of whole body reservation, especially the people in the central and south Taiwan. Compared with advanced countries, organ donation-related operations in Taiwan are still in the initial stage only.

 

 

The CMUH participated in the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) of Taiwan Organ Registry and Sharing Center in 2004 July. It performed the online distribution system and established the organ transplantation team on 2005 April accordingly, and appointed the dedicated organ transplant coordinators in 2007 October so that the organ donation efficiency was increased. Since 2008 to 2011, the CMUH has won the Excellent Organ Donation Award of Taiwan Organ Registry and Sharing Center continuously.

 

 

To promote the concept of organ donation, the CMUH not only sets up the organ donation memorial cards in the lobby, but also conducts the thanksgiving concerts, organ donation promotions, educational trainings and other regular activities. It actively promotes and implements the concept of organ donation and expects to save more patients.
